Yesterday was my second day of school as well as my first field trip. We went off campus with my hydrology class to a site near the French Broad River which just so happens to be the most diverse place of salamanders than any other place on Earth. Of course we did not damage or hurt their habitat. We placed 2 inch PVC pipes in the ground in order to measure the water table in this location. This information can be provided for multiple reasons. We were going to continue to check the pressure of the water table and see if its affected by the sand/clay organic matter that is found in the ground in this particular area.
Needless to say, I am so excited for this class and want to be a hydrologist even more!
